Ebook About Reidon Ward will become a god.He doesn't know it yet, of course. Reidon was born weak, sickly and small. Afflicted with a painful disease and abandoned by his parents because of it, he has had to fight tooth and nail for every minor advantage life has allowed him.His perseverance has not gone unnoticed, however, and when the most powerful artificial intelligence in human history takes an interest in him, things began to change quickly. Granted a CAD—a Combat Assistance Device—with awful specs but an infinite potential for growth, Reidon finds himself at the bottom of his class at the Galens Institute, one of the top military academies in the Collective. Along with his best friend, Viviana Arada, Reidon will have to start his long climb through the school rankings, and on to the combat tournament circuits that have become humanity's greatest source of excitement and entertainment. So begins the rise of a god. So begins the ascent of the Stormweaver.Book Iron Prince (Warformed: Stormweaver Book 1) Review :
So it should be noted- I read a *lot* of GameLit and progression fantasy, so when I say that Iron Prince did something with the genre that I haven't seen before, it means something a bit more than most. (For the Tl;Dr version, skip to the bit at the end) First lets get my aggregate ratings out of the way.For composition and spelling we have a 5 out of 5 (and it's an unfortunate truth of the self-publishing world that not everything is going to be decent in that regard, but these two authors certainly pulled off a professional job on release day.) For pacing, I'm going to have to give 5 out of 5 again, simply because Raidon *refuses to quit.* literally every portion of the book is well paced, except for *maybe* the portions of the tournament where they're watching the older students- i can see some people having issues there, but for me the banter kept me engaged. Which brings us to Characters- 4.5 out of 5, and i only dock that half a point for a hamfistedly handled trope that's *oh so obviously* a sequel hook. I mean yes, it's not like people *arent* going to be scared, but it could have been handled with a tad more finesse in my opinion. And now we have general Worldbuilding, which is 5 out of 5 for me not just because of what's explicitly laid out, but what's *implied* as well; the setting is both incredibly detailed and has lots of room for growth- and I can't wait to see what else is in it.This book takes the best of your average wuxia or xianxia progression fantasy, and adapts it to a more westernized, sci-fi setting, nowhere more does that show than in how the characters interact with each other, and in how power is gained. I encourage those readers who like Wuxias in theory but get turned off at how the characters act to give this book a try, you may be pleasently surprised. In conclusion, I'll be waiting with bated breath for the next book- may it arrive when it's ready and not a moment sooner! I'm not one for long and detailed review so here go my five cents.I want more of this and I want it yesterday.I absolutely love the universe that was introduced here and can't wait to learn more about the questions that were merely stated and not yet answered in the book. This book (and probably the whole series by the looks of it) is the epitome of the saying "Journey before Destination".We know where the journey is going to end. The synopsis first sentence tells us that. What this book and its sequels I believe will show us is what it takes for our protagonist to reach that destination and the drive he has to reach it.I loved the characters and the story and couldn't drop the book until I was done with it just a few minutes ago.For any fan of YA/Gamelit I heartily recommend this book and hope we won't have to wait a long time before we get a sequel.Seriously go read it.
